SMART METERING
SMART METERING
Smart grids hold the potential to significantly change the implementation of a broad range of processes in Distribution Utilities such as Billing, Connection Management, Peak Load Management (PLM), outage management (OM), Demand Side Management (DSM), Power Quality Management (PQM), Load Forecasting, and integration of variable renewable energy. Significantly, smart grids also hold the potential to introduce entirely new processes such as dynamic demand response (DR), MicroGrids, electrical energy storage, and widespread electric vehicle (EV) integration
As per the revised National Tariff Policy issued on January 28th 2016, in order to enable energy audit in the distribution system, all distribution companies shall ensure smart meters in their electricity system throughout the chain from transformers at 132kV level right down to distribution transformer level at 11kV and further down to each consumer.
In this direction, RECTPCL has been mandated by Ministry of Power to implement Smart Grid/ Smart Metering projects in various distribution utilities. Accordingly, RECTPCL has presented itself as Project Management Agency (PMA) for implementing Smart Grid/Smart Metering projects in Smart Cities on ESCO model.
Current Assignments
RECTPCL is assisting Odisha Power Transmission Company Ltd. (OPTCL) and Central Electricity Supply Utility of Odisha (CESU) in various activities for development & implementation of Smart Grid in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Scope of work includes preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Bhubaneswar City, selection of Smart Grid Implementation Agency (SGIA), assistance in Project Monitoring etc.
