Amritsar is an existing 2x315 MVA 400/220kV substation of POWERGID. Presently it is connected to Jullandhar through a 400 kV S/c line to meet it’s growing power demand1x500MVA 400/220 kV ICT is under implementation. To augment supply of power to Amritsar S/s 400kV connectivity to Prabhati Pooling station and Makhu (PSTCL substation) is under implementation. However the power supply to Amritsa area would be mainly through Jullandhar 400kV substation as during winters the generation of hydro projects would reduce to very low level as well as in case of low generation at TalwandiSaboo TPS, Makhu S/s may also draw power from Amritsar. Hence there is a necessity that power supply arrangement to Amritsar S/s is augmented. A HVDC station at Kurukshetra is being established for supply of power from pit head generating station of Chattisgarh. Accordingly, for augmenting power supply to Amritsar S/s, following transmission works are proposed under Transmission System Associated with NRSS-XXXI – Part-B
