REC Transmission Projects Company limited (RECTPCL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) Limited, which is a Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking under Ministry of Power, Government of India. Ministry of Power has appointed RECTPCL as Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) for Inter State Transmission Systems across the country on Tariff Based Competitive Bidding route. RECTPCL commenced working as BPC in year 2007 and successfully awarded its first transmission project in the FY 2009-10. Till date, RECTPCL has been appointed as BPC for 23 (twenty three) large Inter State Tranmission Projects valuing approximatly Rs 36,719 Crore.
Dr. P.V. Ramesh, 57 years, an IAS officer of the 1985 batch of Andhra Pradesh Cadre is the Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) on the Board of REC Transmission Projects Company Limited since January 5, 2017. Prior to joining RECTPCL, Dr. Ramesh was the Special Chief Secretary, Environment, Forest, Science & Technology and Development Commissioner in the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Prior to this he held important positions of Principal Finance Secretary, Principal Secretary Department of Health & Family Welfare and Commissioner of Industries in the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He headed the State Reorganization Department that reorganized the state of Andhra Pradesh. He is also a qualified Doctor from the Christian Medical College & Hospital, Vellore.
Dr. P. Shakil Ahammed, an IAS Officer of 1995 batch of the Assam & Meghalaya cadre, is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of REC Transmission Projects Company Limited since 21st Nov 2017. He has rich and varied experience of handling projects/assignments in various sectors which include Education, Tourism, Skill Development, and Information & Public Relations. Prior to joining REC, Dr. Ahammed was working as Joint Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation where he was in charge of the Horticulture Mission for India. Dr. Ahammed has worked in several capacities with various departments/Offices such as Director in the Prime Minister Office, Director Tea Board, in the Indian Embassy at Moscow, apart from having handled several prestigious assignments for the Govt. of Meghalaya.
